Most of Alaska — including Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau — is on Alaska Time: UTC−9 in winter, UTC−8 in summer. The Aleutian Islands west of 169°30′ W, including Adak, use Hawaii–Aleutian Time, one hour earlier, and also change their clocks in summer.
Until 1983 Alaska was spread across four time zones; that year it consolidated to the two it uses today.
